Responding to the growth and success of the Shorts’ Innovation Taxes Group, Shorts are delighted to announce that Abdul Kaleel, who joined Shorts’ personal tax team in June 2016, has now joined the Innovation Taxes Group to become an adviser on Research & Development (R&D) Tax Credits.

Shorts’ Innovation Taxes Group (ITG) was formed in early 2016 to help companies claim generous tax reliefs available for innovating, such as R&D Tax Credits and Patent Box.

Head of Shorts’ ITG Scott Burkinshaw commented “We are delighted that Abdul has joined the team, to enable us to grow further and expand our services.  Abdul’s technical abilities, enthusiasm and diligence will prove a real asset to the team.”

We often find that potentially eligible companies overlook these reliefs as they overestimate the level of innovation needed, or are put off by the level of work required to make a claim, when in fact all that is required is an appreciable improvement to science or technology.  Recognising this, we formed the ITG to raise awareness with a regular program of seminars, and help innovative businesses obtain the help they need to keep innovating – not just through tax reliefs but also through the access of grant funding and associated business support.

Since inception, the group has enjoyed significant growth and have saved local companies well over £5m through successful claims.

Anyone seeking more details on the availability of these reliefs can contact any member of the ITG team on 0114 2671617 or 01246 559955.
