Once again, a team of nine walkers from Shorts have supported Ashgate Hospice, taking part in the 10th anniversary of their annual Sparkle Walk event.

Every year the streets of Chesterfield are lit up in June with 3,500 fundraisers taking part in their 10k Sparkle Night Walk, in support of families from across North Derbyshire.

Setting off from Chesterfield Football Club's stadium at 10pm, a sea of flashing lights and sparkling bunny ears light up the streets of Chesterfield, as the roads are gradually taken over by a sea of pink. Walkers once again decorated themselves from head to toe in a variety of impressive outfits, sparkling and shining their way around the 10k route, before eventually finishing back at the football ground in the early hours of Sunday morning.

For the 10th anniversary year, there was even more entertainment dotted along the route, as hundreds of well-wishers also joined in, supporting along the entire route. From musical entertainment, drums, fire eaters and memory walls. Our team of nine had a great evening, several of whom are already planning to take part again next year.

A big thank you goes out to all the organisers and volunteers who made the event such an enjoyable one to take part in.

Our JustGiving page currently remains open for donations, and we thank everyone who donated to our fundraising efforts this year.
