This year’s annual Business and Manufacturing Seminar, jointly hosted by Shorts, NatWest and Banner Jones Solicitors on Thursday 26th November welcomed over 160 attendees.  The event was the centrepiece event within Destination Chesterfield’s Made in Chesterfield week.

This year the event focused on business and manufacturing within the region, and we were delighted that Rupert Seggins, Senior Economic Adviser in the RBS Economics Team and Alex Mardapittas of EMS Powerstar were keen to appear as this year’s key speakers.   The morning closed with a Q&A session, during which the speakers were joined by Scott Knowles, Chief Executive of East Midlands Chamber of Commerce.

Stands were on hand from a number of organisations, providing representatives with a ‘one stop’ opportunity to speak with many sectors under one roof; East Midlands Chamber, Destination Chesterfield, Banner Jones Solicitors, Shorts, EMS Powerstar, UKTI, NatWest, AMRC, Ashgate Hospice and Derby University all attended the seminar.

Taking part in the Made in Chesterfield week, schools in the region were also invited to attend the seminar with representative post 16 students.

Shorts Tax Partner Andrew Grant commented “This is the 4th year that we have jointly organised this event, which annually goes from strength to strength and we were delighted to see a capacity attendance yet again this year.  This region has such a rich manufacturing heritage, and it is important that we work to ensure that continues into the future.  We are pleased that representatives of training organisations, further education, government agencies, and business support services could come together to give a unique opportunity provide inspiration to those looking at a career within manufacturing. We are already looking forward to, and planning next year’s event”
