It was another very successful year at The Star Small Business Awards on the 17th July 2019 celebrating those small companies doing big things - and Shorts were once again, proud to have been involved, as sponsors of both the event and the Innovation category.

The ceremony welcomed 37 finalists from local businesses to the Virgin Money Lounge, on Fargate in Sheffield – and celebrated 10 winners.

On introducing the event, Editor of The Sheffield Star Nancy Fielder said: “We’re here to shout about and celebrate Sheffield. Keep doing what you are doing, it’s what makes our future bright.”

Shorts were proud to sponsor the Innovation award which this year, was presented by Sam Newton. This award was presented to a business which identified a need for a new and innovative idea to create a competitive advantage within their sector.   This year’s winner was Sport:80, a business which harnesses the transformative power of technology to deliver solutions that support a sustainable future for sport – well and truly deserved.

Sam added “There is no doubt, that Sheffield is a growing and vibrant business community.  Having the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our small businesses, provides the opportunity to showcase some of the otherwise ‘unsung’ heroes’ and it was a pleasure to present the awards to some of the winners on the night.  Congratulations to everyone who won an award this year.”
