For the accountancy profession in general, 2015 so far has been an extremely busy year. Confidence and optimism for the future has at long last replaced the hard slog of recent recession years, and business owners are once again looking at those major business decisions.
For Shorts, these improved economic conditions have coincided with a period of sustained growth across all departments of the firm. We continue to focus on the quality and experience of our team and in the last 12 months have appointed a significant number of individuals who have worked at senior levels within national and international firms.
2015 was also an exciting and significant year for Shorts; being our 125th anniversary. We began the year by welcoming guests to the official opening of our new Sheffield premises, on Napier Street and earlier this month the partners hosted a Gala Dinner at Chesterfield FC’s Proact Stadium where partners and directors past and present joined many of their longest standing clients in celebration of this historic milestone.
Andy Irvine, Partner commented “Throughout Shorts’ history we have recognised the importance of developing strong open relationships with our clients, indeed many of our clients have an association with the firm going back several generations”
“Proud of our 125 year heritage, the Shorts of today is a vibrant and growing firm. We offer an insightful and proactive approach delivered by professionals with real quality, which is focussed on ensuring our clients achieve their business and personal goals in the most tax efficient manner. Committed Chesterfield Champions and serious about growing our presence in Sheffield, we genuinely believe that there is no firm better placed locally to advise ambitious businesses and individuals.”
Andy adds “Looking forward to 2016 and beyond the economy both locally and nationally clearly faces a number of challenges. However, the devolution deal could and should be a major step forward.”
“Moreover, with the recently submitted plans for the second stage of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and the continued positive engagement of our two universities with the business community more generally we remain optimistic about the city region’s long term economic future as we strive to become a knowledge led economy.”
