Last week, the People Team stepped away from the day‑to‑day to spend time together at our People Strategy day. Joined by Malcolm Pope, partner, and supported by executive coaching expert, Jo Mousley of MPD Consulting, we focused on one clear aim: making sure our people strategy supports the firm’s strategy and reflects how we want to work, lead, and grow as a business.
It was a valuable opportunity to pause and look at the bigger picture. When things are busy, it’s easy to stay focused on immediate priorities. This time together gave us space to reflect on what’s currently working well, where we need to strengthen our approach, and how our people practices support the firm both now and as we look ahead into the future.
Creating the right environment for great teams
One thing we’re very clear on is that great service starts with great teams. When people feel supported, trusted, and clear about what’s expected of them, they’re better able to contribute, collaborate, and deliver for our clients. That’s why our people strategy is focused on creating the right environment for people to do their best work through strong leadership, ongoing development, and a culture built on trust and respect.

With Jo’s input, we spent time discussing leadership behaviours and how they show up in everyday moments, not just in big decisions, but in how we communicate, listen, and support one another. Trust, empathy, clarity, and open communication came through as key themes. Malc helped keep us grounded in the firm’s priorities throughout the day, making sure our thinking stayed aligned with what the business needs and what our clients expect.
Supporting growth through learning and development
We also talked about how we continue to support learning and development across the firm, and what that means in practice. From onboarding and early support, through to leadership development and ongoing feedback, our focus is on helping people grow in a way that’s meaningful, practical, and relevant to their role. Alongside this, we spent time reflecting on how we continue to develop as a People Team, so we’re well equipped to support leaders, teams, and the wider business as the firm evolves.

This work isn’t about creating policies that sit on a shelf. It’s about making sure our approach to people is joined‑up, practical, and genuinely helpful. When people feel clear about their role, supported in their development, and trusted to make decisions, it shows - in how teams work together and in the experience our clients receive.
A day of connection, reflection and team spirit
What stood out most from the day was our shared commitment to putting people first in a meaningful way.
As we move forward, our focus remains consistent: supporting the firm’s strategy by building strong teams, developing confident leaders, and creating a positive, inclusive culture where people can grow. Because when our people are supported and doing well, the firm is stronger and that’s how we continue to move forward together.
And, just as importantly, it was a fun day with lots of laughs, great teamwork, and plenty more to come.
