Shorts are delighted to be taking part in the Master Cutler's challenge 2019. The challenge is now in its 12th year, and this year has chosen St Luke's Hospice in Sheffield and Rotherham Hospice as charities to support.
The Master Cutler's challenge was created in 2008, when the then Master Cutler Gordon Bridge, invited the businesses of the city region to transform a £50 investment into as much fundraising as they could for two local charities. Businesses could use whatever means they wanted to do that, within legal limits of course. But beyond the law and standard good manners, there was nothing to stop them turning the streets of Sheffield into a giant monopoly game, waxing legs, hitch hiking, or riding a bike for 32 hours. Which is exactly what they did. The charities back then were St Luke’s and Rotherham Hospice, just as they are this year. The rules for this year's challenge are the same, with all Challengers receiving £50 and given the challenge of turning it into as much money as possible for both hospices.
A Virgin Money Giving page has been set up for donations, and we are busy pulling together ideas for some interesting fundraising events over the summer. We are looking forward to taking part in this annual event, and raising as much as we can for these two fantastic local charities.
