We are delighted to congratulate the Tickled Trout on winning the Shorts' Best out of Town award on 31 October at the Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards.
The sell-out event returned for its 6th year to celebrate the wealth of outstanding food and drink establishments in the Chesterfield region. All the winners passed a grueling three stages of judging before being awarded their coveted titles. The Best out of Town award looks for businesses with a high level of excellence and consistency both for food and for service. The business had to be located outside the Chesterfield Borough Council Boundary and within a 10 mile radius of Chesterfield.
The Tickled Trout passed a meticulous judging process to achieve their place in the final. During the first stage of the judging, the public nominated their favourite food and drink businesses, the nominees were then scored by the Destination Chesterfield Team. The scores awarded were based on a number of factors including Trip Advisor, Facebook and Google ratings, other awards achieved and of course their food hygiene rating. From this assessment four businesses were brought into the final, the Devonshire at Upper Langwith, The Tickled Trout at Barlow, Kathmandu Gurkha and the Three Horseshoes both from Clay Cross. For the final stage of judging the four finalists were then visited by two independent mystery shoppers.
According to Destination Chesterfield the multiple stages of assessment were to ensure that there was an independent approach when selecting a winner. No judges or members of the Destination Chesterfield team were involved in more than one part of this process. The aim was to recognise the food and drink businesses that are not only popular with the public and offer excellent customer service but also have a robust plan for their business now and into the future.
Chris Chambers comments that "as a sponsor I am delighted that the Tickled Trout won the Best out of Town award. It was a pleasure to be involved in the awards and we wish all the shortlisted companies continued success into the future."
