After dedicating more than 15 years to Shorts, today marks a bittersweet yet exciting day for Christine Burgon as she bids farewell to Shorts and embarks on a well-deserved retirement.
Christine initially joined Shorts in March 2008, where she played a crucial role as a Receptionist/Administrator in the Sheffield offices, which were located at that time on Ecclesall Road. When the opportunity arose for a new Practice Manager within the firm, Christine applied and successfully secured the position, moving her base over to the Chesterfield office.
During her tenure as Practice Manager, Christine took charge of numerous significant projects, such as the seamless relocation of our team to new premises in Chesterfield on Ashgate Road in 2012, followed by the relocation of the Sheffield office from Ecclesall Road to Napier Street in 2014.
Following the successful transition to new premises, Shorts experienced a period of continued growth, which placed additional demands on Christine's role due to the subsequent expansion amongst team numbers.
In 2017, Christine considered retirement, but made the decision to reduce her working hours from full-time to two days per week and and she took on a new role within HR where she took on the task of implementing and managing new HR software within the firm.
To celebrate her years of service, Christine was treated to an outing to the theatre to enjoy the heart-warming performance of Calendar Girls, preceded by a lunch celebration.
Reflecting on her journey, Christine said, "I've loved every minute of my time at Shorts and it's flown by so quickly. I'll miss everyone and thank you for my lovely flowers, best wishes and gifts."
Andy Irvine, Managing Partner, added his heartfelt wishes to Christine on behalf of the partners. Whilst reflecting on the years, he commended her for her unwavering dedication and hard work throughout the years, emphasising how greatly she will be missed among the team.
Happy retirement Christine!
