The Management Buyout Breakfast Seminar on the 26th of April held at the AMP technology centre helped attendees to demystify the MBO process. The delegates were treated to breakfast before hearing the insightful presentations from Shorts, Natwest, Brewster Pratap and hlw Keeble Hawson. The seminar allowed attendees to explore the process from the unique perspective of accountants, bankers, lawyers and recruitment organisations.

Andy Ryder Corporate Finance partner at Shorts started the presentations. Having previously advised on buyout transactions from £1m up to £50m Andy was able to offer a wealth of invaluable experience in Management Buyouts. Andy explained the logistics of the procedure to the delegates and delved in how the MBO process could work for them.

Nik Pratap (partner) and Emma Draper (director) at Brewster Pratap then followed from Andy. Their presentation explored a range of issues from people planning and identifying skills gaps to a competitive rewards and recognition package. They highlighted the value and insight that a professional recruitment campaign can provide.

Craig Gray Director of Commercial Banking at Natwest Craig and his team have supported a number of clients with MBO transactions of various sizes over the years. Craig offered his insight on the scrutinizing the 5 main points that should be considered when funding an MBO.

Paul Trudgil Managing Partner at hlw Keeble Hawson  finished the presentation. Paul Trudgill specialises in corporate finance and is regularly involved in a spectrum of corporate transactions including MBO/MBI. Paul enlightened the delegates on how good legal advice could protect individuals undertaking the MBO process

This is clearly a subject of real interest in the market at the moment, as the seminar attracted one of the highest attendance rates experienced over recent years. The feedback so far from the event has been extremely positive with delegates remarking on the "Excellent informative presentations."

We hope the speakers conveyed the message that the MBO process can be more realistic and achievable than many may have originally thought.
