Earlier this month I was invited to appear on the panel of guest speakers at the Xero Roadshow event in Leeds.   These events are currently being held around the country for accountants interested in finding out more about Xero online cloud accounting software.

As the first Gold Accredited Xero partner in the Sheffield and Chesterfield region, this was an opportunity for me to go along as a representative of Shorts, and share our experiences of the transition to cloud based accounting software and the benefits that we have found from using the online approach.

Around 100 delegates from the Accountancy profession attended the two sessions, which were aimed at both those new to Xero or simply wanting to find out more, with the opportunity to direct questions at the panel and see how most accounts will be completed in the future.

The event was a success, and demonstrated where the future of accounting is heading.  We work differently today to how we did only five years ago and the impact of increased technology in daily life has accelerated our expectations for information.  In our experience, clients believe Xero feels much more intuitive than traditional accountancy software packages, with the benefit of being online, immediate available, and providing meaningful information with a minimum of effort.

As more accountants embrace ‘the cloud’, I am sure Xero’s popularly will form an integral part of modern accounting systems.   Anyone wanting more details on how Xero can help their business can contact either myself, or Gary Moorhouse.
