Our team were delighted when representatives from Support dogs (four legged representatives as well as the two legged kind) visited our offices earlier this month.

Support Dogs support those living with Autism, Epilepsy and Disability, helping to transform and sometimes to actually save the lives of those they work alongside.

Their website details how their autism assistance programme is life-changing for both the autistic child and their family, how seizure alert dogs are trained to provide a 100% reliable warning up to 1 hour in advance of an oncoming seizure and how disability assistance dogs are trained to enable their owners lead more sociable, independent lives. (visit their website here)

As part of their ongoing initiatives to raise awareness of the work they do and the funding needed, three of their dogs met with members of the Shorts team in visits to both offices, receiving plenty of cuddles, fuss and attention.

As well as the lure of the doughnuts they brought along with them, there was no shortage of interest in the fluffy toys they brought along for sale and several members of our team left the visit wishing the dogs would visit us on a more frequent basis.

Taking into account the donations during their visits, a separate donation from Shorts’ partners, and money raised during their recent golf day, our team have helped raise a total of £3,887 for Support Dogs this year. Support Dogs as a charity are always open to fundraising initiatives and welcome the opportunity to get involved with ideas brought to them.

Chris Daykin, Corporate Partnerships Manager from Support Dogs said “Thank you so much for having us at your offices. Our team had a great time and I hope your staff did too. Please pass on a massive thank you to your staff for their friendly welcome and their generosity!”
