With England’s 2026 World Cup journey getting underway, there’s a real sense of match-day excitement building across the team.

To mark the occasion, everyone at Shorts has been invited to take part in Football Shirt Wednesday – a chance to come together, show a bit of personality, and get behind a brilliant cause at the same time. By swapping usual office wear for football shirts (or team colours), we’re also raising donations for our charity of the year, Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

A variety of shirts and colours

From current season kits to retro classics that bring back memories, there’s no shortage of creativity on display. Some have stuck with their favourite clubs, others have gone international, and a few have dug out shirts that haven’t seen the light of day in years.

In exchange for getting involved, team members have made a small donation, helping turn a simple, fun idea into something that genuinely makes a difference. Every contribution supports the incredible work carried out by Sheffield Children’s Hospital, helping to improve care and experience for young patients and their families.

Match day atmosphere

The timing couldn’t be better, with England taking on Croatia in their opening match later today on Wednesday 17 June 2026. With the usual sense of anticipation building, the day offered the perfect excuse to get into the spirit together.

As you’ll see from the images throughout this page, the team has fully embraced the occasion, with plenty of pride, personality and good humour on show.

More than just football

While the shirts are a big part of the day, it’s really about what they represent. Football Shirt Wednesday is a simple idea, but it brings together a few things that matter:

  • Creating an opportunity for people to connect and have a bit of fun
  • Supporting Sheffield Children’s Hospital through collective effort
  • Sharing in a national moment that so many people are excited about

It’s these kinds of small, shared experiences that help strengthen team spirit and make the working day that bit more enjoyable.

Getting involved

With plenty of enthusiasm already building, Football Shirt Wednesday is shaping up to be a brilliant way to celebrate the start of England’s campaign while giving something back.

The only question left is… which shirt would you choose?
