From coffee mornings to Sparkle walks and annual Christmas jumper days, we at Shorts take part in numerous charity fundraising events every year. However, we are excited to announce that following a team poll, Sheffield Children’s Hospital will become the first official Shorts charity of the year.

Selecting our Charity of the year

During our team forum meetings, the idea of selecting a charity of the year was brought up for discussion which sparked enthusiasm among our team. We decided to gather collective suggestions from everyone, which led to the creation of a shortlist featuring seven local charities.

By trying to involve everyone in the decision-making process, we aimed to reflect the values and interests of our entire team and consider a diverse range of causes that are important to us and our community.

We asked our team to vote for their favourite, and received a fantastic response, with 71% overall participating. The results showed that 'Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity' came out on top, with roughly 24% of the total votes cast. Two other local charities followed closely behind, both tying in second place, and each receiving in the region of 22% of the votes.

Although there was not an overall clear winner, the top three charities were remarkably close, making up over 65% of all votes. This shows a strong preference for these three among our team.

Sheffield Children's Hospital is our chosen charity

So, the Sheffield Children’s Hospital is our chosen charity of the year until 31 March 2027 (as we are already part way through this year). We will then have another team vote in early 2027 to pick the charity that we will support during 2027/28.

To kick things off for this year, we are excited to once again support the Christmas Snowflake Appeal, and look forward to seeing the fabulous display of lights this year as always on the buildings.

Our team is excited about all the annual fundraising events and introducing new ideas to support the hospital. Besides choosing a charity of the year, our team will continue to support other popular events like the Ashgate Hospice Sparkle Walk and Mission Christmas annual appeal.
