The winners of the first Chesterfield Retail Awards were announced last week, with Pelican Cycles scooping awards in 4 of the categories, including the coveted Retailer of the Year award.

The cycle shop, based on Old Road in Brampton, Chesterfield was opened in 2012 by owner and keen cyclist Neil Armitage. It stocks an extensive range of cycling parts and accessories, including big name quality brands, as well as offering a full workshop repair and maintenance service.

Neil had no previous retail experience, prior to opening Pelican Cycles, and attributes his success to hard work and a unique approach to customer service. A friendly, relaxed personal service with welcoming informal atmosphere in the shop with the use of espresso machine and Tour de France highlights on screen have helped to develop a loyal repeat customer base.

Shorts partner Malcolm Pope comments “These awards represent a well-deserved reward for the hard work and determination of Neil and his team since the business started a couple of years ago. They continue to grow as a result of meeting and often exceeding their customers’ needs and expectations and I wish them every success for the future.”
