March has been another busy month at Shorts for all our service lines and in this newsletter we bring you articles from various parts of the firm. There are lots of things keeping us and our clients busy that we give a flavour of here.
Andy Ryder explains that funding for Management Buyouts is improving which is good news for business owners seeking to sell their company to their management team or to the managers themselves who may wish to acquire the business from the owner.
Last week saw the final Budget of this parliament before the General Election so we include a full analysis of all the relevant measures announced.
In the latest of a series of articles by Rachael Dronfield seeking to demystify inheritance tax (IHT), she explains how it is possible to mitigate potential IHT liabilities by making gifts during your lifetime. We constantly find that taxpayers do not have an awareness of these rules which can save significant amounts of tax.
The Budget saw further announcements regarding the relaxation of the pensions regime so we include articles explaining a potential tax pitfall for those wishing to access their pension funds and also an update from Simon Hollin about the need to file Auto Enrolment paperwork to avoid fines.
Our seminar program continues and we give details of upcoming seminars in Sheffield. Two seminars will help existing and potential users of Xero cloud based accounting software maximise the benefits of using what has been described as ‘game changing’ accounting software. We are also holding a seminar for business owners and/or management teams interested in Management Buyouts.
Thank you for reading this news round-up. Do not hesitate to give your usual Shorts contact a call if you need any assistance with any of the topics covered or any other matters.
