The recent appointment of Matthew Goodchild, who joined the firm earlier this year from BDO was the latest in a period of sustained recruitment within Shorts’ tax and private client departments.

Over the past 18 months, Shorts has experienced significant growth, which has corresponded with a program of high calibre recruitment.

Following Matthew’s appointment, Shorts’ team now boasts eleven chartered tax advisers, considerably larger than any other independent accountancy practice within the region and beyond; a statistic of which the firm is exceptionally proud.

Tax Partner Chris Chambers noted: “Shorts have been providing quality tax advice in the region for almost 125 years, and while our heritage is extremely important to us, we have an innovative and modern approach to tax, which we are finding is attractive to many of today’s successful individuals and businesses. “With eleven CTAs, there cannot be many independent firms in the country who offer the calibre of tax advice available here at Shorts.”

“Matthew is a fantastic appointment for the firm, being further testament to our long-term strategy of investing in people in order to deliver the very best advice and service to our clients.  Over the past 18 months, we have attracted a number of highly qualified professionals with impressive pedigrees, many of whom have experience of working within both national and international firms of accountants."

“Solid, reliable and forward-thinking advice is at the heart of our tax strategy, backed up with the reassurance of an experienced and qualified tax team.  Looking to the future, we are confident that we have built an excellent team who will play a pivotal part in the firm’s continued growth, and further confirm Shorts as the ‘quality provider of choice.”
