Shorts are delighted to congratulate Marie Cooper, Finance Director at cryogenic valve manufacturer Parker President in Sheffield, on winning the Shorts Business Person of the year award last week at the Sheffield Business awards 2015.
Long standing anchor on Look North, Harry Gration hosted the event, and partner Howard Freeman presented the award on behalf of Shorts. Four individuals had been shortlisted for the award: alongside Marie Cooper, of Parker President were Julia Gash – Bag It Don’t Bin It (BIDBI) Ltd, Richard Carr of Mechan Ltd and Lynne Darwin of Building Product Solutions.
Howard commented “As sponsors of this award, I am absolutely delighted that Marie won Business person of the year this year. The strength of the shortlist is testament to the quality and strength of business individuals within the Sheffield region and we wish all the shortlisted companies continued success into the future”
"Year after year, these awards reveal winners of exceptional measure and the calibre of this year’s shortlist was no exception to the rule. The strength of the region’s business leaders provide a solid platform for a positive future. In my view we are extremely fortunate in this area to boast such a rich blend of industry and commerce but ultimately it is the passion, vison and quality of our business leaders which will determine how the region performs over the longer term."
The Sheffield Business Awards are seen by many as the premier business awards evening. This year it celebrated its 14th year, and Shorts were proud sponsors of the Business Person of the year award. Held on 3th December at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre the event was organised by the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and The Star, and designed to recognise and reward Sheffield business success. Categories are refreshed each year, to reflect relevant expertise and skills and the winners are automatically entered into the Sheffield City Region Awards.
