Shorts is very proud to be nominated for the In-House Finance Team of the Year award at the 2021 Yorkshire Accountancy Awards. Following our three wins in 2020, Shorts entered just one in 2021, and we are very excited to have been given the nomination once again.

The annual awards celebrate the achievements and successes of the region’s best and brightest professionals and firms.

The awards are open to all people and businesses involved in accountancy within Yorkshire. The annual ceremony aims to celebrate the successes of those organisations, teams and individuals who have excelled throughout the year.

We are incredibly proud of our Finance Team, which includes Head of Finance Daniel Kealey, Finance Manager Sylvia Sowden, Credit Controller Helen Milner, and Finance Assistant Jodie Hague.

A place in the final shortlist is the very least they deserve for their remarkable and invaluable contribution to the firm over the last year.

A year of incredible work

When the pandemic struck in 2020, our team was already producing regular and detailed information across the whole firm and partner group. However, the work they completed during the COVID period could not have been more important to ongoing stability, enabling sound business decisions to be made during an extremely uncertain period.

The team demonstrated excellent standards of work and greatly improved efficiencies, including production of revised budgets, enhancing many internal reports, and consistently hitting cash collection targets, whilst remaining sympathetic and flexible with clients facing difficult circumstances.

Our talented Finance Team are integral to the success of Shorts and will continue to be so.

Michelle Frost, Practice Director at Shorts says:

"They blow me away with their enthusiasm and drive for continuous improvement. And when any of them have the available capacity, they will always offer a helping hand to other team members. True gems."

About the award

The In-House Finance Team of the Year award celebrates teams that perform essential finance work for their employer, adding important value to the overall business with a commitment to excellence, quality and innovation.

The award also recognises the important contribution that a team makes to the general finance community, from Yorkshire and beyond.

When is the ceremony?

The ceremony is set to take place on the 8th July 2021 at New Dock Hall in Leeds.

On behalf of everyone at Shorts, I'd like to say how proud we are of our amazing Finance team, and wish them the very best of luck at the awards!
