There is nothing quite like the power of cake to bring people together for a brilliant cause.

This week our offices were filled with the irresistible scent of freshly baked goods, great conversation, and a little bit of friendly competition as we hosted our charity coffee morning in support of our charity of the year, Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.

We had a variety of sweet and savoury bakes on offer; Autumnal chocolate covered coffee cake, lemon cake, cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls, sausage rolls, and even pizza wheels.

A selection of tasty treats!

It was wonderful to see the efforts being enjoyed and for our team to catch up over a hot cup of coffee is so good. The atmosphere in both of our offices was wonderful.

(Self-)Raising the Stakes: The Great Shorts Bake Off!

To add even more excitement to the morning, we hosted a competitive 'Bake Off' element for those brave enough to enter their culinary creations.

The standard was high, giving our judges a tough job. The criteria were perhaps not as technical as the real thing - does it look good and does it taste great - were our simple, but effective criteria!

Our judges, Tom Dodd and Steven Strawther took their obligations with full conviction.

After a blind/anonymised taste test and much deliberation, our Shorts Star Bakers were crowned. Or aproned.

In Chesterfield, Sarah Cave’s delicious lemon drizzle cupcakes and mango chutney infused sausage rolls earned Star Baker status, and in Sheffield, Korresia MacGregor wowed the team and the judge with her amazing acorn and leaf coffee cakes.

Congratulations to you both!

Beyond the bakes and coffee, the true heart of the morning was the cause that we're supporting this year.

We are so proud to continue our support of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, an organization that does phenomenal, life-changing work supporting young patients and their families across our region and beyond.

The generosity, baking skills, and competitive spirit of everyone involved, helped us to raise over £300 to add to our ongoing total.

A heartfelt "Thank you!" to everyone who baked, donated, ate, chatted and laughed!
