Shorts are again delighted to sponsor the Sheffield Business Person of the year award, at this year's Sheffield Business awards; recognising the significant contribution made towards the success of an individual’s business; evidencing their initiative, achievement, and entrepreneurial talents.  The winner will be the finalist who is judged to have clearly demonstrated exceptional performance both within the organisation they represent and the wider business community

Looking overall through the companies and individuals shortlisted for this years’ awards, it is clear that the Sheffield region boasts an impressive blend of quality, strength and diversity within the local business community. The strength of the region’s business leaders should provide a solid platform for a positive future and in these more uncertain times following the Brexit vote, it is more important than ever that our local businesses are in safe hands.

Something that all this year’s finalists have in common is that they have been given the time to implement long term strategies which have put in place the right foundations for growth. This is consistent with Shorts own recent experience.

Approximately 3 years ago we implemented our growth strategy which is focussed on becoming the leading progressive accountancy firm in our region. This involves providing our clients with an insightful and proactive approach, delivered by professionals with real quality, focussed on ensuring those clients achieve their strategic goals in a tax efficient manner.

Shorts has experienced organic revenue growth of >20% pa 3 years running, leading to a 65% increase in turnover over that period and we are forecasting current year revenues to be c£6.2m. This success has led to outside recognition and we were delighted have recently been shortlisted for Mid-Tier Firm of the year at the British Accountancy Awards.

A professional services firm can only be successful if it employs the right people. Our team of more than 100 employees and partners is one of the very best in the region and we remain steadfast in ensuring the highest level of qualifications within each of our service lines. We currently employ 13 Chartered Tax Advisers, the largest number within any local practice.

Proud of our heritage, the Shorts of today is a vibrant and growing firm. Our nomination for Mid-tier firm of the year is a genuine success story for the professional services sector within the Sheffield City Region and we genuinely believe that there is no firm better placed locally to advise ambitious businesses and individuals.
