2014 will be remembered as one of the more significant years in recent history at Shorts. A period of sustained growth has resulted in a substantial level of recent high level recruitment, ultimately leading to the decision to relocate the firm’s Sheffield premises to newly refurbished office space on Napier Street.

January saw the appointment of private client director Rachael Dronfield, with the subsequent recruitment of two private client managers and additional adviser support and research assistants. In total Shorts’ private client team now boasts in excess of 20 individuals, focussed on providing innovative inheritance tax and financial planning solutions.

Adding strength to the well-respected tax team, Matt Goodchild joined Shorts in the summer, bringing the total number of Chartered Tax Advisers at the firm to 11, more than any other independent accountancy practice within the region.  Shorts find that their insightful and proactive approach to tax is attractive to many of today’s successful businesses and individuals.

Andy Ryder joined as a corporate finance partner in April, bringing with him an extensive background in lead advisory and due diligence assignments and this was followed more recently by the appointment of Matt Milnes to develop further Shorts’ corporate finance offering.

Andy Irvine commented “We are delighted with the calibre of professionals that continue to join the team here at Shorts. Growing organically has allowed us to recruit quality staff within all departments: this year we have recruited 17 individuals, 12 of those joining us within the last quarter.  Shorts is committed to providing clients with the very best advice and service, helping them achieve their business and personal objectives in the most tax efficient manner”

“Our Sheffield staff are due to move into newly re-developed offices on Napier Street before the end of 2014 which will provide improved meeting facilities, as well as better access and parking for visiting clients. I am confident that our new office will provide us with a fantastic base from which to expand further within the region.”
