The Chesterfield Festival of Christmas Trees has once again opened its doors for what is now the tenth year. Running from 16th November until Sunday 1st of December 2024 (and attracting over 20,000 visitors per year), the festival is open daily for visitors at the Parish Church St. Mary and All Saints (The Crooked Spire). Once again, Shorts is proud to be joining in the festival, with our Christmas tree joining the many others.

Why Shorts supports the festival

Shorts have participated in the Festival of Christmas Trees since it began.  With our long-standing heritage within the Chesterfield community, it is important that we show support for this annual event (plus, it's fun to be involved!).

Each year, we are delighted when the organisers grant our request for our tree to be placed alongside the plaque commemorating Samuel E. Short, our founder. Samuel Short was prominent within the local business community, Alderman and Ex-Mayor of Chesterfield, as well as Churchwarden of the Parish Church.

Last year, over twenty thousand visitors came to see the trees. Visitors provide a significant advertising opportunity for local independent businesses and charities. As Chesterfield Champions ourselves, we recognise this is an essential event for Chesterfield, supporting our businesses and simultaneously bringing the community together with the spirit of Christmas.

The many unique trees light up the 1200AD Church. Every tree is designed and decorated to represent the individual's group, business or school and each tree displays a message, a value or a brand, making every one worth the visit.

It is free to go and have a wander throughout the Church and soak up the Christmas atmosphere. If you do choose to make a donation it is put to good use, maintaining the Crooked Spire and supporting the Church's outreach projects.
