On Sunday 29 March 2026, members of the Shorts team once again laced up their running shoes to take on the Sheffield Half Marathon – proudly running in support of Sheffield Children’s Hospital, our Charity of the Year.
Over recent years, it’s become something of a tradition for Shorts to enter a team into the event, and 2026 was no exception. Several colleagues from across the firm signed up to the challenge, with a mix of experienced runners and first‑timers all training hard in the lead‑up to race day. The atmosphere was incredible, with spectators lining the route and cheering runners on through every mile.
By running for Sheffield Children’s Hospital, the team were proud to support a charity that makes a life‑changing difference to children and families from across Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond. As our Charity of the Year, supporting the hospital is a cause that means a great deal to our team, and the half marathon provided a fantastic opportunity to raise both funds and awareness.
Alongside those taking part in the race, many other members of the Shorts team were out in force on the day, offering encouragement from the side lines. Fundraising also continued in the weeks leading up to the event, with colleagues, friends, family and clients generously donating to support the team’s efforts.
For first‑time Half Marathon runner Lynne Gill, the experience was challenging but hugely rewarding:
“I was nervous while we were waiting to start, as I had never run 13 miles before and wasn’t sure I was capable of it. Belle Hassan and I started at the back of the race, and it was really encouraging running past so many people in the first 5km. It was hard work – especially the hills – but we’d trained for months. Although I didn’t run a fast time (2 hours 43 minutes), I really enjoyed running with Belle and I’m so pleased I did it.”
Thanks to everyone’s support, the team are delighted to have raised £860 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Every donation will help support the vital care and facilities the hospital provides to children and families when they need it most and our JustGiving page remains open for anyone wishing to add to the total.
Reflecting on the day, Brian Gooch shared how proud he was of the whole team for taking on the challenge and supporting Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated, shared the fundraiser, and came along to support the team on the day.
